Getting started
Install the agent on your PC, the app on your phone, and pair them once with a QR code.
Helm lets you control your Windows PC or laptop from your Android phone for free, with no account. Setting it up takes about ten minutes: install the PC app, install the phone app, scan one QR code.
What you need
- A Windows 10 or 11 PC.
- An Android phone with Android 8.0 or newer.
- Both on the same network for the first pairing (Wi-Fi or USB tethering).
1. Install Helm on the PC
Download Helm for Windows and run the installer, or install from PowerShell:
irm https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Niranjan266/helm/main/scripts/install.ps1 | iexEvery file is on GitHub Releases with a SHA-256 sum. Helm opens a window showing a pairing QR code. Closing the window keeps Helm running in the notification area, so phones stay connected.
2. Install the Android app
On the phone, download the Helm APK and open it. Android asks you to allow installs from your browser the first time.
3. Pair
- Open Helm on the phone. PCs running the agent on your network show up by themselves.
- Tap Pair with QR and scan the code in the Helm window (or tray → Show pairing QR).
- The phone checks the PC’s certificate fingerprint from the QR, signs in with its own key and is saved as trusted.
That is it. After a reboot of either device, the phone reconnects on its own — there is no PIN or password to type again.
4. Start the agent with Windows
Right-click the tray icon and turn on Start with Windows. The agent then starts in the background at sign-in with no console window; the tray icon is its UI.
